NEWBORNS:
What does this price include & will there be any hidden costs?
This price includes your session fee and up to 20 high quality edited images which will be emailed to you via a transfer link ready for you to print at your disposal.
Images will be ready within 8 weeks of your session.
There are no additional costs.
Please note that a £50 non refundable deposit will be required to secure your booking, newborn shoots are only bookable between 9.30am & 3.30pm.
How long will my session take?
The duration of each newborn session varies, they typically take around 3 hours but I will always allow extra time if your baby needs it.
How can I prepare my baby for the session?
If possible please feed your baby a couple of hours before your session time so that on arrival your baby will be due their next feed. He or she can then hopefully fall asleep afterwards ready for photographing. (If baby uses a dummy then please remember to bring it along).
What should I bring for my newborn session?
I have plenty of blankets and posing outfits available for your baby, I also recommend that you bring any outfits, blankets, teddies or gifts that you are particularly fond of so that they can be included in the shoot if you desire.
What style of photographs can I expect to receive?
Please take the time to browse my gallery or check out my Instagram page (@jessicaalderphotography) to ensure you are familiar with my style of photography.
Every photographer is unique, I prefer a natural, simplistic style with minimal props.
Please note that I do not use fancy dress or elaborate props in my newborn sessions however, if there is a particular photograph you’d like to achieve please let me know in advance and I will do my best to accommodate you.
What can we expect on the day?
The newborn sessions are entirely baby lead so whenever your baby needs feeding, winding or changing it is no problem. Parents can feel totally relaxed in the comfort of my studio, and of course babies wellbeing is the overall priority.
Can we bring siblings, relatives or pets to my shoot?
Yes I will photograph whichever family members or pets you would like to be included with your newborn session, please just let me know in advance. Additional family members may be required to arrive at the studio after we have successfully photographed your baby independently.
Where do I come for my newborn shoot & would you do the session at my home?
My studio at home in bishops Stortford is readily set up to capture your baby perfectly. I appreciate in certain circumstances it may be difficult for you to visit the studio – if you require me to capture your baby elsewhere please get in touch prior to making the booking for additional rates.
When should I book my newborn shoot?
I recommend booking your newborn shoot after your 20 week scan. Ideally baby will be photographed within the 1st ten days after birth. After this short time frame your baby will become more alert & difficult to photograph asleep.
What if my baby comes early / late?
Don’t worry I never fully book out my calendar so I will always have space to move your booking if required. Send me a quick text if your baby goes overdue or if you have an earlier birth then expected so I can re arrange your booking accordingly.

Help – my baby is no longer a newborn but I would still love some photographs doing!
Don’t worry, it is possible to get some beautiful photographs of babies at all ages. As long as you understand your baby will likely be awake and fidgety then please get in touch to book your baby in at any age.
What is included in the makeover and is it right for me?
Understandably some Mummies can feel tired and may not have the time to get themselves presentable for their photos. Having had a previous career in the beauty industry I offer a pre shoot blow dry & make up service before your session - ideal for any Mothers who need a little extra help feeling their best on the day.
Please note you would need to allow an extra hour for this service.
MATERNITY:

Images will be ready within 21 days of your session.
Please note a £50 non refundable deposit will be required to secure your booking, Maternity shoots are bookable from 9.30am, sessions to be finished by 3.30pm.
How long will my session take?
Maternity shoots usually take around 3 hours but please allow an extra hour if you are having a pre shoot makeover.
I’m pregnant but I’m not feeling very confident or comfortable – is a bump shoot right for me?
Having been pregnant myself I understand you may be feeling a little self conscious which is why I love to help every Mum-to-be feel as confident, beautiful and relaxed as possible by tailoring the shoot to suit each Woman’s needs.
How should I prepare for my shoot?
Please ensure you are photograph ready on arrival, unless you are having a pre shoot makeover, in which case please arrive with freshly washed, still damp hair and cleansed skin.
Please bring with you any underwear, outfits, you may like to be photographed in (the plainer the clothes the better).
Being photographed whilst pregnant can be tiring – please bring with you plenty of snacks. Of course, you can take a rest whenever you need.
When should I book my shoot for?
I recommend booking your shoot for around 30-34 weeks.
Can I bring my partner, children to the shoot?
Yes, absolutely, it is always a pleasure to photograph other members of the family with your bump.
What type of photos can I expect to receive?
Please familiarise yourself with my style of photography. I like to keep my maternity portraits natural and simple please note airbrushing is included unless I am advised otherwise.
Where do the maternity shoots take place?
At my home studio in Bishops Stortford.
